Moxibustion            $30

Moxibustion is another supplemental therapy in Chinese Medicine used to treat and prevent disease by applying heat to specific points on the human body.  This type of treatment is commonly called  “moxa” and has strong medicinal value for many illnesses.  The Chinese classics state, “when a disease fails to respond to herbal medication and acupuncture, moxibustion is suggested.”  Moxibustion uses the application of the herb Artemesia Vulgaris, a dried and aged form of chrysanthemum.  This herb is applied to specific acupuncture points on the body to create warmth and stimulate healing.

Spooning/Gua Sha         $20

Spooning/Gua sha can reduce a fever and alter the course of an acute infectious illness, as well as reduce inflammatory symptoms in chronic illness. A group at Harvard used bioluminescent imaging with a mouse, and showed that gua sha upregulates gene expression for an enzyme that is an anti-oxidant and cytoprotectant, heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), at multiple internal organ sites immediately after treatment and over a period of days following gua sha treatment
